STAR Beginner Program

 

Designed for children who are new to playing a sport or new to playing badminton.
The focus of the training is to teach the fundamentals of badminton, the rules of the game, applicable badminton terminologies, and basic skill sets. SBA will be committed to improving students’ game skills and building confidence to compete. Students are not only improving badminton skills but also building life skills. We incorporate discipline, dedication, focus, and a positive attitude. Our goal is to nurture each and every player with the skills they need to succeed, both on and off the court

* Badminton 101 (the racket, the shuttlecock, the court, badminton as a sport)
* Basic strokes (includes proper grip, swinging racket, follow-through, the use of wrist/arm/shoulder and hip and shoulder movements, racket and shuttlecock point of contact, how to serve and receive serve)
* Footwork and stroke combination
* General physical conditioning (warm/cooling down exercises, cardiovascular/endurance exercises, strengthening and flexibility exercises) – generally a tool to avoid injuries
* Basic court play rules (scoring for singles and doubles games, service/receiving, faults, court courtesy, and sportsmanship)
